FX4 vs Lariat
Hey everyone, I am looking at 2 F150's right now and I hope to get one before the end of the year.
The first is a 2005 Lariat 5.4 with 56,xxx miles.
The second is a 2006 FX4 5.4 with 139,xxx.
The FX4 is about $2,500 cheaper, but obviously the mileage makes me hesitate a bit. This would be my first F150, so if I had them side by side, is there anything I should be looking for right off the bat?
Thanks in advance.

The Lariat would be more of the luxury model of the two. The FX4 would be a bit more set up for off road. Basically the main difference is just the packages each truck has. The Lariat would have come with more standard features than the FX4, but you could get most options on the FX4 that the Lariat had. The Instrument clusters are different too.
Is the Lariat 4x4? if so go for it, the milage on the Lariat is far more attractive than the FX4 badge IMO. As for the differences, both could have been ordered with similar packages but the Lariat base was more geared toward a "Luxury" truck and obviously the FX4 is more geared to the offroad crowd.
Depends what you plan to do with the truck, any mods planned such as lift and bigger tire and wheels, if so then pay attention to the differential gearing.

And if the lariat is 4x4 TAKE IT! If not fx4 FTW!
Yes a Lariat can be built to have all the options of the FX but you have to order it the off road package when ordering the truck.
Wow that is quite a comparison...one truck has almost 3 times the miles. If they were more comparable I would say FX4 always, but at those mileages you'd be foolish not to take the Lariat if it was in good shape.

I would say go with the Lariat. Mine came with the offroad package and has all the goodies as well to make it a little more comfortable. Check the dealer options but I would not even think twice about spending a little more to get fewer miles.

The Lariat is 4x2 and both have leather. I am not an avid off-roader (I may be after this purchase), and I live in Memphis, TN which rarely has snow. I am going after work today to look at them and hopefully start some negotiating.
