Time to get an inspection sticker on the truck, and I had just replaced the battery, so I obviously needed to drive the vehicle to ready the monitors. Long story short, 02 monitors will not run and I have code P1233 stored, but no CEL illuminated, and no driveability issues whatsoever. I replaced the FPDM with a cheapo unit- code returns immediately when engine is fired up. I did some research, and following wiring, I inspected every connector and accessible harness for the circuit from PCM to the FPDM- no corrosion or any obvious defects. I measured the resistence of the signal wire from FPDM to the PCM pin- .5 ohms. Figured the cheapo unit I bought was garbage, so bought a Dorman unit and installed it- same problem. Only thing left I can think of is a PCM issue, but that seems improbable. Any help is appreciated.
Since this problem might not be related to the FPDM you might get more replies and help if you made a separate thread about it in the "2004-2008 Ford F150" sub section.

UPDATE; Returned the cheapo unit and the Dorman unit, bought and installed an OEM unit, and TADA- problem solved. Drove vehicle for 20 minutes and 3/4 monitors set allowing me to get a sticker. God I hate paying 400% Ford markup on parts, but it is what it is. Thanks again Spots.

I have thought about getting a Ford OEM FPDM unit myself, but the Dorman unit I bought still runs fine.

Default Great advice.

Wish I had seen this a week ago. The mountains of WV. have devoured my truck. An 05 just hit 100,00 miles. Cab supports almost completely gone. Frame has a couple of nicely rusted holes. Factory tow hitch just about gone. And the little module lasted till yesterday. Just about every truck you see of this vintage is close to the same condition, doesn't matter who made it. That's shameful in my opinion. Auto zone saved the day for me after a ride on the hook yesterday Got a Dorman as well at $105 too. Took longer taking the spare down than it did replacing the rotted part. Amazon prime has it at $71.00 but we have weather coming and I wanted it done today. Folks check yours cause if you haven't replaced it you may very well be there soon.

Default Stranded in BFE

Have an 05 5.4L project truck that came out of fab, new drivetrain and suspension.. Put 1000 street miles on it running super smooth. Injectors, plugs, coils new.

Pcm, fuse panel, fpdm, pump not changed.

Did a test run in Mojave desert, 50 miles in motor shutoff no adv warning. Engine would crank but not fire
No codes. No fuel pump priming sound. 30 later iengine fired, drove 200meters then quit again.unable to fire after.

Next day hard wired fuel shutoff, drove 4 miles. Same thing. This time turned over and fired but bogs out immediately. Codes: 1285, 2106, 061. Engine did not overheat.

Do i need a code to validate fpdm? Either way its going, as is the fuel pump.

Any feedback appreciated.

I say just replace the FPDM, don't worry about any codes (if there is one). But it's possible it might be something else

Just a follow up. My camshaft sensor wiring had been chafed thru. Intermittently cut engine. Guessing thats why i didnt have the code. Still doing the driver module and pump as preventative- thanks all.

For those that still have their original OEM FPDM that still works, has anyone used nut washers between the module and the frame? I just tried this to keep it away from the frame and it seems to have worked.

My question is, will this work as a long term solution to prevent the corrosion?

Edit: pictures and more info are in the following post linked below:
