Fuel Gauge Question/Help
I put $100 in the tank today (not quite full, but due to auto shutoff, that's all I could get). Anyway, when I got back in my truck the gas gauge was still at E.
I turned the truck off and back on and it was still at E. I started to wonder if gas had even come out of the pump.
Avoiding looking stupid, I assumed that maybe the gas didn't register and drove off. As I drove the needle slowly moved towards Full until after about 20 minutes it was as high as it was going to get.
My question is what would cause this? Do these trucks still use a "floater" or is the fuel level electrically monitored?
Thanks in Advance,
Josh

Nope I always leave it off until after filling, and then I turn it over and it usually pops right over to Full and I go on with my day, so it was unexpected when it didn't.
I have had the same problem. this is what I have been able to find..
Ford has 3 special service messages and 1 TSB dealing with them. The problem will be one of 3 concerns, sulfur build up on the float which can be fixed by using CHEVRON TECHRON PLUS FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER, a calibration update, or a fuel sender replacement.
the sulfer build up seems to be the most common, I have run one bottle of the Chevron cleaner, so far, and it has helped some....I did notice a few fill ups ago I left the key on accesory while I was filling the tank, and the gauge worked perfectly.

Looks like you had the key on while filling the tank.
These trucks have what is called a slosh module. So the fuel guage does not move when turning corners. It makes the needle move slow.
Read the owners manual, you should turn off the key when fueling, But I do it all the time to hear the tunes when fueling... Does not cause any real problem. Just the guage acting funny for a little while.... Keep the Tunes Cranked...
