Fried Wiring
so my passenger side headlight has been going dim and undim the past couple of days, so i removed my blue halogens and then i put the stock halogens back in....today i took my car in to the ford dealer for my 10k service, and i asked them to check out the lights aswell....turns out, the blue lights fried the wiring harness and plug for the headlights, and ford will not warrant it because it was caused by the aftermarket lights...they want to charge me 80 bux/harness, and then about 200 bux or more (3.5 hours) of labor to put it in, for a total of like $520....solution, do not put the blue halogens in your trucks....has this happened to anybody else, and does anybody know how easy/hard it would be to replace these harness' myself....its and 06 f150 5.4L....any and all help will be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance!

I think they sell aftermarket light harnesses on summit specifically for bigger lights, take a look at this stuff.

and you could always just put the stock bulbs back in and take it to another ford dealer....

Its already in the Ford system what happened. He won't be able to do that. Shoulda put the stock bulbs in before it went to the Stealership in the first place.
Good find on the aftermarket harness. Thats what I would do if I had to pay for it anyway.

i did....i was talking to the advisor when the tech nextelled him and sed "that f150 with the light problem, the harness is fried due to blue bulbs" and the advisor told me that they know what causes what...
Did you admit to having blue bulbs in there? If not then I would make them fix it. They can't prove you had anything else in there.
how sure are you of that? cuz they said that thats the only thing that will A: cause that problem, and B: they said it looked like some1 had already taken the housing out/changed the bulbs...i guess i could always say i changed the bulb because it looked burnt out to me....they really can't prove that it was because of the blue lights?

do you think that will work?? because how can the guy tell from seeing fried wiring that i had the blue bulbs in my car?? they say that thats the only thing that causes it...but the thing is, they are the same wattage as stock bulbs...by the way, my tail light on the driver side, i looked at it this morning, its filled with water 1/2 way up the reverse light...im talking from the bottom bottom of the light to mid reverse light...will that cause problems with the lights and the wiring once they change it? because they already ordered me a replacement tail light...
o god i have the same problem same thing happened to me but i actually already replaced the harness and put in oem headlights and my harness socket stills get burned i dont know what to do this is a huge headache
