Unhappy Fog Light Problems

Hey guys, I just recently put in some 8k HIDs for my F150's fog lights. The fog lights were working for a few days but then suddenly shut off. I took it to a random guy at Advance Auto Parts and it turns out that these HIDs blow the fog light fuse (not the relay). I replaced the fuse but it continues to be blown everytime I turn the lights. According to this "professional", the stock wiring harness is to blame because a positive wire touches bare metal. I don't think that may be the issue though but I'm no expert. I just want my lights to work
Can anyone help me out?

I always had the best luck with hids if I used a harness when you had them off a stock harness they were beer perfect between flickering or just not firing. Usually hid manufactures recommend upping fuses when installing because the high initial draw. Ddm tuning or theretrofitsource.com has good quality harness for your application there easy to install and will save you headaches down the road!

Oh alright, I thought the same thing about upping the fuse. What exactly do you mean by harness? I'm still a newbie to the terms

Where did you get your HIDs? A quality kit will have it's own harness that only uses the vehicle power wire to trigger a relay, and has its own power lead to the battery.

From Xentec on Ebay. I know they have been rated poorly but my headlights are also Xentec and I've had those in for almost 2 years and they work great.

Basically you have a plug that will connect to the factor headlight harness that will control a relay. Then you will have a positive and negative terminals that connect to the battery . There will be connectors that connect to the ballast. Basically what the kit does is use your stock headlight circuit to control a relay. That relay controls the power coming from the battery. So your hid kit will be able to use the power directly from the battery which gives it enough power to ignite the hids and it will eliminate flicker and all the fun stuff from running hids off your stock harness. Also the positive wire has an inline fuse that will be more than enough to power your hids.
