Default fog/Hi beam problem

I installed LED headlight bulbs. Now when I turn on the fog lights, the headlights go to Hi Beams. If I switch out the fog lights to LEDs, will that fix the problem?

No, that will not fix the issue. You need to do the Bambi mod. Just search Bambi mod for 2004-2008 F150.

I don’t think Bambi is even a fix. I thought GEMs get wonky with LEDs lacking resistors…something of that sort.

Besides, you have Bambi already. Fogs on with high beams.

A 2006 F150 doesn't have a GEM module.

You need to do the Bambi mod.
It would have to be done according to plan, not an accidental half-measure. As it is, if he actually NEEDS fogs for severe visibility conditions like fog, he's going to get high beams which impair visibility.

OP: Is your truck equipped with either autolamps or daytime running lights?

hmm. It solved my high beam issue when I swapped to LEDs

I'll guarantee you it has nothing to do with the CAN bus (since the CAN bus has nothing to do with the head or fog lights). More likely than not, you simply ended up with an extra load resistor that was called whatever. It is the extra load caused by the resistor in parallel with the LED that mimics the draw of the incandescent bulb which then allows the original fog light relay control circuit to function as it was designed to do with regular bulbs.
