flowmaster on today
did the muffler on the truck today , swaped in a flowmaster 44 , man is it quite.
I wanted something loud, didn't happen , if I'd have known it was going to be this quite I'd have bought a glass pack, owell it does have a nice low tone rumble to it now.
hopefully it will break inand get a little louder .

Flowmasters don't break in. That will be it. I know someone else that made that mistake although I had forty series flowmaster. Damn it.

I have the 44 as well...wanted raspy loud...wasn't fully happy, but it's decent rumble...what i don't like is the drone at about 1800 rpm's...it's getting old...Thinking of looking at Pypes or Cherrybomb. I want the loud without the drone...if that's even possible
It is a chambered muffler, that inhibits flow, how would that increase performance? Straight through, free flowing mufflers will increase flow better than a chambered muffler. Exhaust on these trucks, unless you do extensive mods is all for sound anyways.
Even the stock muffler (chambered) is able to handle 400 hp or more (blownford can give you that number) Jerry is right about sound vs. performance and if you go with another muffler, check youtube for f150 exhaust sound clips and go with a straight through muffler

Get rid of your cats. That will drastically increase your volume overall.
And no, there isn't really "breaking" in mufflers. Sound may change SLIGHTLY in extreme temps but how it sounds now, is how it will sound in 5 years.
I've had both Flowmaster 40 and 44 series exhaust systems on multiple cars over the years.
