hello, new to the forum, and ford trucks.. just purchased a 2007 fx4. want to add a simple flowmaster muffler and was looking for experience on a direct weld in replacement for the stock. I searched the flowmaster site and i got two different model numbers for the 40 series. Also searched this site but there is way to much info to look throughhas anyone had any experience with this install and what the proper part number is? 42543 ? 42541?

I know i will need to add a small extension as the flowmaster is smaller than the stock, just worried about the pipe not lining up.

Check to see if one is stainless steel. That may be the difference and it will be more expensive.

 

it was 42543. installed today, sadly not as loud or choppy as i remember in the past. i had the same 40 series one in 2 out on my old dakota and it had allot more rumble. is it just the single exit making that big of a difference? if i recall they get throatier when they break in?
