Flex Gas
Quote of the year... haha just playing
. Anyways yes Flex Fuel on vehicles nowadays means nothing more than that car engine can operate properly and efficiently on E85 (Octane) fuel. Look up Pre-Ignition/Cylinder knocking if you are interested in finding out why certain octanes must be used with certain vehicles. Such as High Octane (91) is a minimum standard for supercharged vehicles due to the probable chance of fuel pre-detonating and causing severe damage to the engine. If you truck truly is a Flex Fuel vehicle than there is absolutely no problem driving on E85.
I did some math recently and figured out the cost per mile to drive on both E85 and 87 octane. The E85 with the local station price was about $.29 a mile in fuel and the regular gas at $4.25 a gallon was $.28 a mile. Savings in the short but long term you lose out a little.
