First "official" towing experience
So I picked up a car yesterday for a friend about 45 minutes south of me. Trailered it back to my house overnight and dropped it off after work today. My new (to me) F-150 did great!
Huge improvement over the '98 Ford DMC conversion van I previously used to tow my other car.

Temporary "leveling" kit with the trailer/car attached.

I had good transmission temps while towing (166° was the highest I remember seeing on an 88° humid day during city driving). Very impressed! Looking forward to more "working" trips with the truck!

I have the Edge one in there. I haven't switched it to any of the programs since I purchased the truck (had it in there when I bought it) because it has that K&N intake and I am nervous it will run lean. I like the digital read outs of information though. I'm looking for a stock intake setup as it is. K&N is too throaty sounding for me. I like the Magnaflow exhuast though.
Great haul Michelle. I am towing my 6x10 trailer this weekend for the first time since I bought my '04 F150 XLT (in my avatar). Actually hooked it up and moved it around today lol. Glad your setup works well for you. Did you have to get a different ball mount or were you lucky like I was; old one off my last truck was already the right setup for my new truck.
Like you I was thoroughly pleased with my f150 towing. I towed a 1989 28' Wellcraft Cabin Cruiser on a steel trailer (wet weight about 9,800lbs) from Toledo, Ohio to Destin, Florida (986 miles). The trailer started out with hydraulic brakes but about half way through Kentucky the brakes took a crap on me. I had about 1,500 lbs of stuff in the bed, a full tank of gas on the boat (90 gal) and the only stopping us was the truck! I felt the old commercial when they stopped an airplane with an F150. No problems what-so-ever

I too noticed the nice firm braking of the F150s, which is good because I never installed brakes on the 3500 lb trailer I built a few years ago. I originally pulled it with a 1996 Toyota T100, don't laugh, it was a good truck (saved my life in a wreck). I wanted to get a truck newer than 2000 and Toyota no longer offers the truck I want (had a 2000 Tundra for a while that I hated). Ironically the local Toyota dealer had the awesome '04 Ford F150 XLT that I ended up purchasing.
Not hijacking, just borrowed some space lol.
