I would like to know the cause of the fire. Many years ago I had a similar experience with a 1973 Chevy. That was caused by a fuel leak from the carburator (all the younger guys say "what's a carburator"). I was able to make the repairs and keep it running for several more years.

It was only 2 or 3 years ago that the Titan was rated by CR as the worst in reliability for all full sized trucks... Do your homework before you buy any truck, new or used.

I had a 2002 F-150 and it was recalled for the cruise control. I dont think 2004-2008 had this recall.

Sorry to hear about the fire. Hopefully they can find the cause. Of course if they find it to be due to neglect or fault on the owners behalf, that may suck for you. Otherwise, we hope all works out for the best.

Now I must say, the Titan is an okay truck and has some serious get up and go. Problem is, the truck is cheap and not up to F-150 standards. Interior is way below the quality of material used in the F-150. Plus like others have stated, they are sitting on dealer lots with huge $$$ on the hood to try and move them. Here is the breakdown of truck sales for 2010. Notice the F-Series still continues to be the #1 seller in trucks and all vehicle sales. While the Titan is bringing up the rear with only 11K trucks sold so far in 2010.

The CC recall did not impact the 04+ model F150s.

Well, I did kind of assume that since we are in the 04-08 F150 forum, we were discussing those model years, not any prior/after.
