Finally bought a work truck...
So I finally found a work truck to compliment the garage queen (aka 2014 Platinum). It's an 04' FX4 with 189k miles. I am well aware of the issues with this generation and the miles are high but the price was too good to pass up and I won't be driving it much. It was also well taken care of. Anyway, looking forward to learning and troubleshooting along the way with this one.

Wow! The exterior is in great condition for something that's 12 years old and almost 200k miles on it. Not to mention that you're in the north. That's assuming if it's original paint and stuff. Good luck with the truck.

Nice looking truck, good job. I too have and 04 and honestly, other than doing the phasers and timing a couple years ago, have had no real issues since. Had to get a new battery, but that's really it, she has never left me on the side of the road. Great trucks.

Great looking truck! I wouldn't worry about the miles too much. I recently sold my '14 loaded Ram Sport. Paid off my dept and bought an '08 XLT (163,000 miles) with the equity. The frame was in great shape (no rust...hard to find), it had all maintenance up-to-date, and it has the 4.6. After I bought it I found out the truck had been run hard by the last owner (heavy off-roading, busted back glass, all rear lighting cut and spliced). I pulled rocks and mud out of the inside of the frame and other hiding places that should be there. I love the suicide doors for loading kids seats. I've hauled several numerous heavy loads, my boat, four wheeler, and have taken this truck on several camping trips and off road trips. I actually like it better than my Ram. Basically, this truck is living proof of why the F150 is a beast if well maintained. Here's what I've had to do:
-Replace sway bar end links and bracket bushings
-New idler pulley
-New belt tension
-Bypassed the heater core, $2.50 vs. $500.
Other than that I'm happy with it. I think you'll love your truck too.

You started on the right path and it's Red
I have an 05 STX Flareside that's Red with 178,000 miles on it. of course it's only a 4.6 so I'm good there, and with all the mods and the fact I've taken care of it, people assume it's a 2016.
Either that means they're stupid and don't know their Fords or I've kept it looking good.

The truck does look good from a distance, though there are some dings and some decent scratches, and the rear bumper is rusting. But overall, it fit my budget (didn't want to spend more than $4,000 for a second truck).

I checked the Kelly Blue book value on mine, and private sell was around $5000
Although I've put waaay too much money into it for what it's worth, then again I won't sell it and, I bought the truck from my mom for a good deal...
