Default Few Questions

I have a 2008 xlt 5.4
ok so first. would a k&n drop in air filter improve mpg or horsepower or really have any noticeable change to my truck.

And second is there any cheap way to make my exhaust and truck in general louder without spending big bucks on it
Thanks, Rob

1. my friend has just the replacement filter in his truck, he says you can hear it, but not "feel it", it's reusable, so that's a bonus

2. you can just have the muffler removed and have pipe put in it's place, i have that on mine, nice sound, not insane loud, but much louder than the silent stock exhaust. i will try to get a vid of it, i forget to do it today

K&N runs a good marketing campaign but as for any real HP gain or ANY mileage improvements are purely imaginary. Nothing like paying big bucks for an oil soaked, waded up t-shirt in a wire cage that they claim is good for a million miles. ALL Hogwash.

just go to a muffler shop and ask how much to remove the muffler and put pipe in its place. some places won't do it because it's illegal, my guy charged me 45 bucks cash, have a nice day.

I have had K&N systems in past, i got them for free, so what the hell. but i do know that they do collect alot more dust, than say a stock filter. It's all in marketing, take a look at their dyno charts once, not many guys are running in the 3000 rpm range, sure it makes power up there, but not in the normal rpm band.

OK I get an estimated mileage every time I fill up with stock air filter I was getting about 14-15 mpg, I replaced the stock filter with the K&N filter and I am not getting 15.5 to 16 MPG. so I am getting about 1 more mile per, gallon of gas. I mostly use shell gas.

as for horse power. it feels like I have a little bit more, it isn't a lot but It feel like it is there.

to make your muffler loader all you need to do is go under your truck with a 1/2 drill bit and drill holes all trough the muffler. it is free and it will make your truck a lot loader.

Don't do that, it's not a snowmobile. just find a shop that will swap out your muffler with piping, i will get you a vid of it tomorrow, weather permitting. All drilling holes in it will let it start to rot away.
