No problems here on my 2006 with the factory bedliner, tailgate caps nor the wiper cowl. All are still in excellent condition and form.

Could be. But could also be it only has 39K miles, is garaged most the time and really only works on the weekends or trips up the mountain.

Found my fix for the tailgate cap! Simple fix for me, maybe it'll work for you... I removed all the hex bolts from the tailgate (T-30 socket) and removed the liner and cover over the tailgate handle mechanism. Removed and reattached the cap. Used duct tape to hold the cap on securely and laid the cover over the cap, about 1/4 inch. Put the liner on top and tightened all bolts down. Cut the excess tape away, and now the cap sits flush and secured without the tape showing. It's been successful so far and I feel confident in wont come off. If it does, its something I can easily do again.

My truck makes all kinds of noises. I used to try and figure them out but now I just drive it untill something breaks. I check for play in the wheels every 4000 miles when I change my oil and that's about it.
