Failsafe mode, no engine light???
Am driving home, rainy weather if it matters, out of the blue, no warning, I slow down to make my last turn onto my road, I hear 'ding ding" and see "engine failsafe mode" and it dies. Ease it onto the shoulder, restart it, still in failsafe mode, limp home at an idle(about a mile). get into the yard, turn it off. turn back on 30 seconds later, failsafe mode is off, runs fine. Go down the road, no probs. Hasn't done it in my commute to work today either. And at no point was there a check engine light! What in the world.... I did a search and see some references to the throttle position sensor.... what do you guys think?

Something got wet bro.... pretty common issue for Toyota's..... you might want to check and make sure your connections are all tight everywhere... and you dont have any exposed wires.... Im fairly new to Ford trucks, but have been working on cars for a while...
i would also clear the memory on your ECU also... just for the hell of it..
Disconnect your negative terminal on your battery for 5 mins...
See if it happens again...
If it does during driving in the rain.... start looking for spots where water is getting in.....

my 05 150 lariat super crew cab same thing only in cold weather, is it the cold air in the intake? maybe ford has a major prob. they dont want to discuss , sounds like the million trucks having this prob should get a recall? maybe its a bigger mistake than ford wants to admit$?

Same thing here: 07 5,4 with cold air intake.
in cold windy/snowy/rainy condition: I pretty always get it.
When it's bad enough, I get the P061f check engine code.
Put in on Neutral, turn it off....start it back up and put it back in D...all that and didn't even loose 5mph on the highway.
You need to do it kinda quick(cause you loose the power steering while the engine is not running) and not put the key completly off(you'll lock the streering wheel!!).
I did it 6-8 times on a 200miles run last sunday. (but my air filter disconnected, so it was one of the culprit for much of the occurence.)
