Default Factory running boards

I just purchased a 2007 F-150 xlt 4x4 super cab that was a lease vehicle.
It appears to have had factory running boards on it by the mounting hole locations but the previous owner removed them before turning in the truck.

My question is do any aftermarket running board manufactures use the same mounting system as the factory?
I am a little concerned about leaving the mounting holes open and getting rust starting after one winter in Illinois.

You can always plug those open fastener locations w/ a bolt and a washer. And yes aftermarket do use the factory hanger locations. You can check that out if you buy the new bars
