F150 Upgrades
Thanks, honestly that's the best advice for trucks I've had in a while. Everyones telling me to turbo this, supercharge that, shave these handles lol. I think I'm just getting a little paranoid and overworried.
No problem. I like my truck just the way it is. We went on a ski trip this winter, fit 5 grown dudes in my truck just fine. Then in the bed were the snowboards/skis. Roads were really bad too. A truck is more practical than a dumped car. My dad always told me, get something to work with (truck) then get something to play with (hopefully a Mustang GT or something like that). Never try to have a work/play toy. Those won't last long.
Sorry to say the 5.4 with any of the cams, pistons, intakes, heads, and stroker cranks available is going to produce 450rwhp. Hell you would be lucky to 400hp at the crank and you would be out at least $10,000 and still have a slow truck. The 5.4 likes boost! Thats why there's an SC on the GT supercar and the GT500 Stang. Even with 4 valves the motor still didn't perform. You mentioned engine safety issues. 450rwhp is 450rwhp. I am now at 600hp and the motors fine. Not knocking your dad but I tend to listen to performance engine builders and tuners like Mike Troyer or JDM when I want to know how to make power within the safe limits of motor. Ask your Dad why Ford put a supercharger on the Lightning and this motor is no different? Why would Roush offer a blower for it and a 3yr/36k warranty?
yeah id have to agree with what most guys said.. but now if it was me and i wanted a fast truck for relatively low $$, id buy a diesel. definitely going to be faster out of the box than any naturally aspirated gasser
