Update
Update in a word: FAIL
Current Status: you're prob. thinking that I should be in the Ford, driving home, at this point. Negative. I am currently sipping a double rum & coke in the airport.
The last 24 hrs: I was picked up by the salesman at the airport, the truck looked amazing, and I drove it back to the dealership. Everything seemed to be working well and its aftermarket exhaust sounded great. When we arrived at the dealership they took a copy of my license/insurance, etc... And then they handed me a Bill of Sale to sign.... Ah, no. I told them that I was def not signing anything until I had it checked out. (They reluctantly agreed, even though this had been previously discussed). ---Red flag, anyone? ha.
The Vehicle Inspection: I drove the truck over to the dealer, no problems, and dropped it off. Twenty minutes later they asked me to step out into the garage (fed flag numero dos). They had found that the truck frame was "TWISTED" on the passenger side near the bed. A little more searching (drum roll please...) the truck's bed was not the original bed, actually quite a nice bed, but it was at one time the bed of a RED truck (note: for new followers, the truck in question is BLACK).
Needless to say, that was the end of the inspection. I drove the truck back to the dealership where I was greeted by the owner. I explained to him that the truck's frame was bent.... he said it was not. So, I showed him where it was bent. Then, I asked him why there was a red truck bed on a black truck. He said he didn't know what I was talking about. So, I showed him the red spot underneath the body that had escaped the phony black cover up. At this point he had nothing to say, so I walked off.
Well, that's my story. My expenses = roughly $500, but far bar better than 16.5k in a worthless truck.
