I just bought a 2007 crew cab lariat 4x4 88k for 15800. The bank appraised it at 26,800. I bought it from a local wholesaler that buys trucks adds $500 to it and resells it. He keeps 3 or 4 f150's on his lot all the time. He told me that him and his 3 sons sell 100 ford or chevy trucks and suv's a month. The name of the place is Wilson auto sells in Hallsboro NC

Price vs. mileage is good, but 2 things I would find out regardless on wether or not you get an extended warranty. How many owners over its 6 years and wether or not the plugs aka 100k service has been performed. Some may not agree, but at 80+k they are due to be swapped, and if they don't break it will cost you less than a grand. If any break, well then it will cost more. One of the problems with these trucks is that the engine is designed to have the plugs in it until 100k. Most cases the plugs don't live up. Just a thought, cause I am certain there is a thread on here about it. I am new as well to this forum. Focus more on the number of owners though. 6 years should only be 1, maybe 2 if there was a lease involved. Best of luck.

$1000 for no broken plugs? I just paid $75 to have mine done and none broke at 90k. My best friend was quoted by the ford dealer $475 plus $40 extra for each broken plug

Yeah the plugs do worry me. If I get the truck I'll change them ASAP. Having the ford dealership run through it makes me feel better. I can afford a thousand in plugs if that's all I have to worry about.

You got lucky! I was unlucky and If I had to do it again would have gone straight to the dealer on the plug change unless I had enough confidence in another mechanic. Dealer has the Lisle tool on hand and doesn't charge you to use it. And I believe I originally posted Under 1k for the job with no broken plugs which for a normal 100k service should be around $500-600. At least where I live

Well, I'm getting my stuff packed up for the flight and thought I'd ask you guys a few more questions before I take off.

On the test drive/inspection: what things should I be looking for or listening for? From what I have read on the board, there seems to be some compaints about the engine (ticking, etc...). What should I be on the lookout for?

I am taking it to a family friend's Ford dealership, so that def calms my worries. But, what kind of questions should I ask them about the truck? And is there anything in specific I should have them look at?

Thanks agains guys. I really appreciate everyone's insight thus far.

It looks like it has a leveling kit on it. Id make sure they look at the control arms and ball joints.
