Default f150 hood ajar switch or snesor

My first post here, looking for help, I have a 2004 f150 that has a switch/sensor on the driver side engine compartment half way down from where the engine hood support lifts attach with 2 wires attached at the bottom, when the hood is closed it is depressed. The terminals the wires are attached to are rusted off and I am looking for the part and have not had any luck. Would anyone have an idea of the part number or a clue as to what I have described.

Thanks for any help

I don't know but looking around the Internet it looks like it may be part of the remote start system or maybe part of an alarm system.

My two guesses would be alarm/remote start or someone put their own lights under the hood for visibility.

Your best bet is to go to your Ford dealer and have the Parts Dept go through their schematics.

Some models of current day F-150s have a hood switch which is part of the anti-theft system as noted. If the hood is open or ajar, you can't start the truck. If the vehicle has an alarm, then the hood opening sets it off.

A similarly named switch is not listed for your 2004, but again the Parts Department should be able to bring up the hood area on a schematic, find the location, and see if the switch is factory or not. It's also possible that the prior owner may have installed a new year factory switch for some reason. The switch is inexpensive.

This should work, there are 2 different switch's used by ford, the push button, and tilt switch, both work by opening and closing the circuit.
