Just spend the $18 on a 2.5” glasspack if that’s what you’re going with; the cost of two stainless adapters will approach that cost, and your truck won’t like the restriction.

Thanks for the quick reply.

That's a good idea. This muffler was free so I'm just going by what I just received, so I'm just weighing my options with it. But I'll look into getting the correct size, as logically it makes more sense.

I'd like to install a turn-down pipe after the muffler to let it echo off the pavement (and keep the carbon buildup off the frame and underbody).

I went to O'Reilly to see what I could find to try and see (just kinda experimenting) what I could do for my free 2.25" Glasspack. I picked up a 2.5" to 2.25" adapter (which I found out I didn't need), some stainless steel exhaust clamps and a 2.25" turndown. When I got home my step-dad and I dry-fit the muffler, and sure enough it fit perfectly in the 2.5" opening where the original muffler pipe was (apparently its a flared opening).

So the free 18" (23" total length) Glasspack muffler is installed. I just have to get a 2.5" pipe coupler to mount the turndown to the muffler, and return the adapter. I'll let you guys know when I get the turndown installed.

So far, the exhaust so much more refined now with the Glasspack, but the turndown should make it a bit louder, but still controlled (right now with the Glasspack only, its still not nearly as loud as without the muffler).

Not sure I've ever heard 'Refined' and 'Glasspack' in the same sentence before.

Well, the sound is not as unwieldly obnoxious as it was when I was running no muffler (I had basically a redneck straightpipe, haha). Its muffled in the way that there's not that annoying drone in the cab, and much more pleasant inside. But its still loud enough to make a statement depending on how you modulate the throttle, haha. Since I did the Gotts Mod, and now with the muffler, I feel like I have a lot more low-end torque that I had lost when I removed the OEM muffler..Wow, its nice to have that power back.

Well, you've found my weak point; I'm not the best at explaining things at times, as you can now tell, haha.

I have was gifted 18", 2.25" diam. Glasspack installed at this time as of earlier today. I have a little more low end torque now since I've installed it. I didn't expect the muffler to fit the end of the stock pipe but it did. I'm now just working on a trying to dind a way to mount my turndown pipe coming from the muffler. The turndown is a 2.25" diameter as well.

Edited to add: I had originally bought a 2.5" to 2.25" dapter, but did not need it after all since the muffler bolted right up.

@dukedkt442. I really appreciate your help, its been a tremendous blessing! Thanks for the Cherry Bomb Glasspack recommendation as well.

I'll post some pictures of the final result once its worked out.

I understood all that perfectly don’t worry.

You’d said it’s loud enough to make a statement, I am just curious what that statement is.

Long message:

Oh ok, now I get what you're saying..Well, looking back now, I'm not even sure what I meant by that, to be honest with you, haha. I guess I meant loud enough to make a statement compared to the original OEM muffler, but its not overly loud when I get on the throttle, like it was when I ran with no muffler.

I would've probably kept it with no muffler, but the drone in the cab got annoying, after a while, and it only really sounded good at specific RPM's in certain circumstances (I need to invest in the tachometer cluster or buy a separate gauge). I noticed quite a bit amount of gas exhaust smell outside the cab; if you walk by the truck while its running and that's pretty much all you would smell, and it doesn't smell good at all, compared to the diesel exhaust, haha. It was surprisingly quiet when I wanted it to be, though, especially at cruise or idle. Oh, and there's also the small, but noticeable low end torque loss that I experienced with the lack of a muffler.

Well, I got the 12" turndown pipe installed. I found out that using a 2-1/8" coupler worked to connect the turndown to the muffler. When I first got the muffler Wednesday night, I had no idea that it would work, but I'm very pleased with the outcome.

Overall, its a lot better now than it was running without a muffler, but while I did lose a lot of the aggressiveness of the straightpipe, I gained more low end torque. This setup is way better than stock, and sounds really good now, especially with the turndown installed. In total after going back and forth to try and find some pipe to connect the turndown, I spent about $24 for the turndown and 3 clamps. Not too bad, and I'm really happy for it being a free Glasspack.

Thanks @SCORGE , @dukedkt442 , and @asovey42 . I really appreciate your help and valuable input! Its been a tremendous blessing! Thanks again!

Here's the setup pictures from the stock exhaust pipe (where I had removed my OEM muffler back to the turndown.
