Default Exhaust Question

So basically I have the 5.4 3v with a rear cat delete. 2.5 inch pipe coming out the side before the rear passenger tire. I would like the truck to be louder. I know the shorter the pipe the louder it is. I would dump the exhaust right after the pre cats but I don't really want to deal with exhaust fumes in the cab. I still have emmission testing but I can get away with the rear cats removed. I'm wanting people to hear me coming from a few blocks away. Any recommendations or tips would be greatly appreciated!

If you have your quoted setup, I find it difficult to believe that you already could pass your mandated state emissions test that you have already mentioned as it sits ?!? Often an actual visual of your exhaust from below is conducted as well... but when it comes down to it, the computer tells you if you are fine or not, but I feel you are in jeopardy already

Cat deletes can easily be hidden with spark plug nonfoulers beneath the downstream O2 sensors.

Yeah I understand that. I've done a little research about the spark plug nonfoulers. Once my area gets rid of emmissions that's what I'm going to do with the pre cats

What area do you live in that is getting RID of emissions testing?

In my area of Tennessee there debating on just getting rid of the testing in general. Most of the other counties around me don't have testing. Bradley county doesn't have emmissions testing and they did something regarding the semi trucks and there speed on the highway or something. I'm not too sure. All I really know is that they don't have testing and Hamilton county is working on following in their footsteps. Ive looked online about Hamilton county and the emmissions stuff and it's apparently in it's final stages of being voted through.

I take it you're a young buck lol That noise will get annoying fast. Not to mention the vibration and drone inside the cab. Sounds to me like you want open header sound but still be legal. Both of those are mutually exclusive. In other words, you can only have it one way and not both.

Yeah haha. I'm trying to get the lifting, big tires, loud exhaust out of my system. As my exhaust currently is, the drone isn't horrible. With the windows up it's honestly not that bad, I mean it's probably pretty bad for anyone riding with me but for me it's manageable. Yeah being legal is my main concern. I know I can get away with a rear cat delete but going completely catless, for now that's where my limit is. I'm just trying to figure out how to make my truck any louder than it is but remain legal. Lol. I've looked at the exhaust guide on the forums but I'm still trying to get some ideas.

Borla Attak mufflers seem to be a popular choice for those that want the noise without sounding like $h1+
