Default Exhaust help!!

I am looking into getting exhaust on my 04 fx4 5.4 soon and am asking for some opinions. i am totally new to the whole exhaust package thing but know that i do want to stay legal.. (no straight pipes) i want something that is going to have a good tone at all speeds but will not rob me of any power..

Thanks
Phillip

It depends on what you like, what you want it to sound like.

Magnaflow

Do some research. There is plenty of info here and videos on youtube.

I just put a Magnaflow 14" Single in Dual Out muffler on my 06 5.4... It's not an obnoxious idle tone, no cabin drone when cruising the higher, but you notice when I jump on it. I can get you more info if you like.

True duals are best but they are expensive, single in/dual out (most common setup) will give you the same amount of power gain as single in/single out. If you want power increase, go with a straight through muffler like a magnaflow, if you want more of a deeper tone, go with a chambered muffler like a Flowmaster. Good rule of thumb, the shorter the length of the muffler, the louder it will be. If you go with a single in/single out (similar to stock setup) make sure you get 3" pipe or you won't see any performance gain, just sound..go on youtube and search different configurations until you find a sound you like

If you're unsure of what you want, check out videos on YouTube of similar trucks. There's plenty on there!

If you want loud, don't use a muffler. If you want A certain tone and rumble, do as previously advised, watch videos, and choose one that meets your needs. I personally wish I had gone with the SISo setup instead of running duals from a y pipe. To each his own.

If u have no budget try magnaflow if not go flowmaster 40 or 44 series.
