Default exhaust

hi all.. what do i need to do to make my 06 fx4 5.4 truck have true duals? I have not received the truck yet but will be very shortly so i cannot look at it to see tell what i need. i'm told there are four cats on on it? can someone verify how many there are and tell me do i need to buy four hiflo cats or can i eliminate two? what is the best hiflo cats to go with and will these be compatible for my oygen sensors. how many sensors are there and will i run into issues with my engine light coming on and the truck blowing black smoke and will i lose to much back pressure if i do this? i would like to stay away from a cat back if possible and keep my truck still on the quiet side?

On the 06's there are only two cats, while the 05 and down had 4. Magnaflow makes replacement cats either in 9 or 12 inch versions. The 9 will be the louder of the group but all increase the volume. You can get these as cheap as 50 bucks of performance peddler, shoot them a quote and on the 94106's(9 inch version I believe) you will get an email saying the lowest price they can go is 50.12. To run the true duals you will just have two cut off the Y pipe and run tubing down the side with whatever mufflers you want.

You might see a slight increase in mileage but not too much. Nope everything should turn out just fine.

What kind of mufflers do you want?

Some 05's only have two as mine did. I'm guessing they reduced them to two in the middle of the model year.

raptor is your truck still under warranty? if so be careful about going with a true dual exhaust system. You should check with your dealer before you do it as mine said it would void my warranty. You need to make sure that all sensors are also installed with the new system too.

Thanks i will look into that. Yes my truck still has two yrs of power trane warranty left on it. For now i was thinking of leaving the cats on and running straight pipes eliminating my Y to a set of flowmaster 50's. I think this will still keep the truck fairly quiet but still add a nice sound to it. Thanks to everyone for all there help on a programmer to. I ordered myself the SCT Livewire today and can't wait to get it. Other mod i put on it an airaid throttle body spacer and i will be doing the gotts mod to the airbox as well with a k &n filter to it.. I'm hoping that this set up will give me a bit more jam.

Don't waste your money on the throttle body spacer. All they do is make noise for our trucks.
