Intake and no custom tune is a no no. I've outlined this several times and here's another good thread explaining the issue. For as dirty as the engine bay is I would also worry about the filtration of the oiled filter, see second link.

I also hope your exhaust shop was good enough to add a cross in your duals since they got the sizing wrong. 2.5" duals are really more ideal.

Wow wee!

Ok, here's my little counter... I've had this CAI for over 10k miles so far, and no problems yet! I've been really good at keeping up with the maintenance. As for the exhaust system, it is 2-single flow 3" pipes, and I asked for it that way! I really like what I've done to Thunder thus far and I will not change ANYTHING unless Thunder's life is in immediate danger.

I can always appreciate and welcome actual constructive criticism and helpful advice here, but nothing really bashing about what I'm doing please.

I think it's cool to see people's work on here personalizing their vehicles. We all have different ideas of what looks good or fits our needs, and I find it quite neat to see all the pics, even if it isn't what I like for "my" truck.

Mine is decked out with chrome(bought it that way), and while it may be a bit much, the longer I have it, the more I like how it stands out, as there certainly isn't one like it around!

To the original poster, I'm glad you love your truck, and hope it keeps you rollin' down the road a long time! Good luck with it!

Thank you! I may be a mechanical noob, but I try to do my research before doing anything, and will only follow through if the benefits outweigh the risk. I have an iPhone app that tracks Thunder's maintenance and gas log, and I've been using it ever since I moved here (when Thunder was still stock everything). And I have noticed quite an improvement on gas usage and overall quality of sound. The only thing about Thunder that's still kinda annoying is the phaser ticking!....grrrrr!

The ticking these engines do is kinda annoying, until you get used to it. Shoot, there's no such thing as a perfect item, they all have their flaws.....but that is one I can live with as long as it's just noise.

Not bashing just trying to help. There is a real danger with it but be it from me to convince you other wise. It's a known issue with the lean condition. You'll never know you'll have an issues until things like this happen (see pictures). The CEL doesn't trip until over a 19:1 a/f ratio which is dangerously lean. This is documented all over this and other sites. If you choose to ignore K&N's own filtration data too that's up to you. Don't kill the messenger, just helping you get the longest life out of your truck since you seem to like it. It's been my life's work to help people make safe, reliable power for hundreds of thousands of miles.

For one, have no idea what those are...lol. I did mention that I'm a noob, and would like a description of internal parts.

Second, I don't like my truck, I LOVE it!

Third, it snowed last night.... Which means lots of potential ways to get my truck dirty today, yay!!!

Fourth.... Well.... I'm at the dealer getting a tranny flush done, so I'll come up with a 4th later...haha!
