Default Engine Swap from V6 to V8

I own a standard trans 4.2 in an '05 STX and was wondering if anyone knows how difficult it would be to swap the 4.2 for a larger V8 engine. Could I use the same trans? What issues would I most likely run in to?

Thanks

This subject has been hit on in the past...While anything is possible with time and money, there's too much to change over to mak it worth the effort. If you do a search you'll find threads on the subject.

The days of easy engine swap-outs are over. Electrical interfaces and physical clearance issues make late model swap-outs a serious challenge. Unless you have srious mechanic skills, lots of time and money, and a shop to work in on your own time, and a lot of patience...

It's not impossible. Just impracticable for MOST people. Even the Sunday TV shows rarely look at this kind of project.

the easiest way to do that swap is to jack up your radiator cap and slide a new truck under it.

even if you could fabricate all the mechanical parts, the electrical issues would be insurmountable unless you had a COMPLETE donor vehicle that you could get the harness and computer out of.

you could easily go buy a V8 truck for less than it would cost you in time, money, parts and aggravation.
