Red face Engine stutters occasionally at an idle

I have a 2004 F-150 and when I let off the gas, the engine wants to stutter and the RPM goes from 800 down to 400-600, and sometimes it will just die. One time when I went to accelerate, it actually seemed like it gave it more gas. This happened to me about a year ago and I replaced the fuel filter and that seemed to fix the problem. I just filled up the tank last night and that's when it started again. Did I get bad gas or is there an underlying problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am getting ready to drive from WA state to FL and would like to find out what the problem is before I hit the road.

ECM reflash... there is a TSB for this on the 04's that the dealer should be able to pull up. ECM reflash is just the cost of 1hr of labor
