If you got timing job correct you still have to have plugs circuit perfect .
Cops ,bad plugs /bad boots must be taken care of too. Because of the high voltage-- possible misses , the computer makes all kinds of adjustments to compensate .
This engine requires it all to be in perfect shape .
VCTs have to work also , if the oil pressure doesn't get thru to the phasors at the right time the computer will know it and compensate . But it should throw codes. Vcts and vct bodies have filters in there that get jammed up . This hydraulic circuit must be clean . Don't stretch out oil changes ,that carbon in that slippery good oil will jam up stuff from normal combustion carbon . It may lube but will block filters /ports .

Just started my truck tonight and when it was idling the check engine light came on. It didn't flash. Any ideas what it could be? It has power and doesn't knock or anything
