Alright guys, I have had a knock (when I say knock, its LOUD, the truck shakes and it sounds like its about to stall on me) coming from my engine that just popped up a few days ago. It only happens when I'm at idel and the truck is moving forward on its own, or I apply slightly to the gas pedal. Heres the kicker though, dosen't happen all the time. It might happen one day then go for two or three days without it happening. Its an 08' SCrew, with 48,000 on it. My brother in law is a mechanic and suggested it might be spark knock. Does anyone have any suggestions?

No check engine light? No engine codes? A problem can occur and the computer will log it as a memory code, take to a shop and see if they can scan it. Definitely could be a spark knock or detonation with it shaking the truck.

After the third trip to the dealership they were finally able to get my truck to knock. They said they are going to tear the engine apart. The said they think it's loosing oil pressure and could possible the cam phasers. Oh joy. Good thing is the truck is still under it's original warranty and should all be covered.

Wait... I thought they did away with the phaser system in the 06 model engines? Am I mistaken?

The cam phaser issue is a problem with the 04-05 and early 06. Not saying that this isn't the problem, just saying.
