What is that engine click a lot of these 5.4s do? Mine does it and it bugs the heck out of me. At idle it just ticks away. Almost sounds like a lifter tapping, but with a rev you dont hear it. Any idea of what it is and how to fix it?

 

Search the forum there are plenty of threads explaining their ideas on what this noise is..

 

Either injectors ticking, or lash adjuster knocking. It'll make you nervous anytime you hear knocking......but that is how these things run.

 

Most likely cam phasers. Search it.

 

You could also have a Manifold leak...
