If your truck has shift on the fly system you can engage 4WD Hi at any speed below 50 mph.. Now to get into 4 low you need to come to a complete stop.. Shift into N with your foot on the brake...then select 4L

I knew how to engage 4 low and I've had people tell me in the past that I can do 4 hi on the fly just ain't got the guts to try it lol

And I'm not really sure if mine has shift on the fly that's why I really haven't tryed it

Yup...thats what your CVs attach to and the vacuum pressure causes your 4x4 to engage or disengage. The teeth inside or whats causing your grinding noise (most likely)
