You either need a new battery, or you need to check that the battery cables are clean and tight. Also clean the grounds behind the kick panels for good measure.

Another plus one
Start at the battery and check both terminals
Even ones that look good outside can have corrosion inside the wire or terminal
Physically check the battery ground connection at the block
Losing all the bells and whistles inside while trying to start the vehicle is a classic sign of a bad connection

Then after all that check the grounds in the passenger kick panel.

Hello,

i love this forum ! You guys are awesome! So I ended up taking my truck into a mechanic, and this is what my invoice says.
Tested voltage in camshaft position plug
there was no voltage, tested st ECM and. There was no voltage signal leaving ECM recommend taking to dealer at this time.
I recently had a new engine put in it, I guess it should have been flashed? after engine was put in…
Is very expensive to have done?

Your engine installer should have done whatever was necessary to ensure that the engine was compatible to your vehicle, and to ensure that it worked with the vehicle's computer.

Did you get a brand new engine, in a crate, from the factory? Did you get a remanufactured engine? Did you get a rebuilt engine? Did you get a used engine, off an old truck, and it's just new to you? Who sourced it? A lot of questions. Ford sells 4.6 & 5.4 engines for a lot of different configurations of vehicles. Before buying an engine, which is too late since you already got it, the first thing is to check to make sure that it's compatible with your VIN and computer.

Who installed this engine? Is it a reputable shop, state licensed, and properly operating as an auto repair business? The reason I ask is because in most states, automotive repair is regulated. The state's licensing bureau could help you if the shop made mistakes. The shop may have to fix the truck under warranty, which won't cost you anything. Or you may have other remedies if that shop did not do the repair correctly.

A reputable mechanic would not just install an engine, then let it leave the shop, without making sure that everything was working correctly.

Now, your dilemma is do you go back to that place, and expect that guy to fix it? Can you trust him to do it right? Or do you find a new shop, or dealership, to fix whatever that other guy didn't do?

Well, that's a bit strange
You go in with a no crank situation and they diagnose it as no cam sensor signal
No CMP signal could be the intermittent no start
Not real expensive to have a processor flashed but I doubt that is your problem
What are the present codes
Did you get the battery connections fixed?

If it turns out that the mechanic was somehow at fault, and should be responsible for repairs........ you may be able to get help from your state.

the guy that put new engine is came highly recommended , he works on vehicles for a hobby. he has a big shop. He is also a retired sheriff. So I just trusted him.
I just sent him a text asking him all your questions. The repair order says R&R long block, and I no it came with a warranty.
