Default Electrical problems!

Ok this all started about three weeks ago. I went to drive to work one morning and it was a little cold outside. I got in my truck and it started fine. But when I started driving all the gauges, my radio, and AC all shut off. But when I slowed back down and came to a stop they all turn back on. But it seemed to not do it when the weather was warmer. Well last week my batterie died. So i put in a brand new optima batterie. But it still kept occurring. Well about a month ago my alternator went out and I replaced it. So I thought it was a bad power regulator in the new one. So yesterday I replaced it again. Well now my gauges work. But when I start the truck my brake light, my abs light, my air bag light, and my service engine light all stay on and the truck runs like crap. I went threw my entire fuse panel and had a few blown fuses. I replaced them all and moved all my relays around. But it's still happening. This is blowing my mind and I'm fixing to take it to the ford service department. But I know it will be outrageous.

O I also went threw under the hood and under the dash and made sure all my grounding spots were good and tight. All the ones I could find at least.

Never a good idea to just shotgun parts at the charging system.

Changing the battery and hooking a new battery to a failing alternator yields a new failing battery. Most parts stores will check both for free.

You have a short to ground somewhere...

When I replaced the alternator I put a new optima in to. The truck starts perfect every time and idles fine. Even if it was a bad batterie it wouldn't make the truck run like it is. But If it is a short to ground. Wouldn't it blow a fuse or make a relay bug out? Or is there un protected wires where my problem might be? And if is there a easy way to find it or maybe atleast what wire it is?

Fuses and relays are a good place to start for electrical diagnosis. The ones that were blown could be a starting point. Did you check the same fuses to see if it's blown again?

A bad ground on you starter will cause bad stuff to start happening.

If you can get it started and running long enough, get the charging system checked by a Ford service department. Usually this is a free charge, and it will let you know what the problem is, so you can stop tossing parts at it (expensive).

I suspect you put in a cheap aftermarket rebuilt alternator. These are known to have a high failure rate. This is why they come with a "lifetime" warranty.

Ya I ended up just dropping it off at ford. It was way beyond my skills to fix it. As it sits right now the bad alternator messed up my throttle body controller, my ABS, and my air bag system. The air bag was covered under a recall. But the truck won't be done till next week. So I don't have a price yet.
