Default Edge specific to gas mileage

Before I get called a DOUCHE BAG I did a search before posting....

I have an 04 with only 63k on it. Was looking at the edge for peak tuning to my driving not so much for additional HP but for a litt gas mileage savings.

Anyone have real deal numbers to report with the 5.4 3V engine? Any headaches?

And before anyone bitches, I did not buy my truck to save gas, but if I could spend $350 and without damaging anything, and save 1 mile per gallon I'd be a true *** not to do it! So, therefore I ask!

I just got my Edge a couple weeks ago and for the first bit was running the performance (canned tune) with 94oct fuel. I adjusted for tire size and rear end only in the "customize" options. I was getting ~15 mpg average and thats with the occasional foot-to-floor.

I just switched the last tank to 87oct and put it in "transmission" mode beacuse I thought it was for better economy (again adjusted for tire size and rear end) but seem to only be getting around 14mpgs tops.

Keep in mind I have vacuum issue so my mileage is a little crappier than It should be.

-edit- I love my Edge though and I would get another one in a heartbeat, the shift point adjustments (I have 35's) alone makes the truck feel better

I just put a edge on my truck. Its a 06 crew cab, 5.4, 4x4, with the 3:55 rear end in it. i went from 14.5 to 16.3 to 16.8 for the city and highway it was 16 or 17 to almost 19. Now I'm running the edge factory settings in stage two or also called tow mode. I also changed my tire size (265 70 R17) and changed the rear end to the correct size. I really like it I've only had it for about a month. My transmission temp seems to be a little cooler and the truck runs way better then before.

Thats the type of info I was looking for. Thanks. I'm not running anything but stock gearing and 18" wheels; simply looking for the gas mileage increase if it's realistis to achieve.

The edge numbers may be off. Calculate your numbers by hand over 3 tank fulls. There are some gas mileage threads listed in the stop and read this first section at the top of 2004-2008 page. Didn't call you a douche bag. Just a comment. Good luck! Repost your results after the 3 tank thing (if you want to)

I just drove a 1200 mile road trip last month the day after I got mine (it’s a Gryphon but I am still waiting on my custom tune). I drove in the 87 tow tune since I have a CAI. Last couple of years I averaged 16.5 for the whole trip. This year I got 17.2. So not a huge increase but enough to justify it if you drive enough. I am running the 93 performance tune now and my overall average with mixed driving went from 15.4 to 15.7. That’s averaged out over about 1500 miles of mixed driving.

if i can ever get a few bucks saved up, im going to try to get an edge too. just seems like whenever i get a little bit of extra cash its time to put new plates on the truck, buy tires, or some other junk lol. i have an 04 xlt crew and i average about 16.5 by hand i have got as good a 17.9 for a 2 tank average. (i fill up 2 times before i calculate my average and only run about 62-64mph on my daily commute of 20 miles) if i could get into the mythical 18+ range i would think it would be well worth it.

my dad has a 2010 lariat with a 5.4 and 3.55s and he can get 20mpg(figuring by hand because the computer says 22mpg) on the highway at around 62-64ish range.

I'm very happy with my edge evo, I got it in the day before I put the lift wheels and 35s on. With a little tweaking on it running it on level two its reading 16mpg average city/highway which even if it's off by say 2mpg it would still be better than the hand calculated 12.5mpg I was getting on stock tires.

I bought it from http://www.edgejuiceproducts.com/ free overnight shipping and free pod with it

I've put around 5 or 6 tanks of gas in it since i got it. But i will say this I do not drive like a bat out of hell. Just easy take offs and easy stops. I'm only 24 and i know already that i don't need to drive like my head is cut off. I like for my toys to last. thanks
