Default Edge Evolution Question

So I recently purchased a 2004 F150 screw and an edge evolution programmer. Attempting to install the programmer, I get a vehicle HEX file cannot be found message and then the programmer shuts down.

Called Edge Products and they say they believe the PCM already has a non stock program flashed to it and that I should take the truck to the dealer and get the PCM flashed back to stock.

Does this sound legit?

Is there anyway to find out if a programmer was used on the truck by the previous owner (can't ask the previous owner)?

Sounds legit to me...the Edge needs to copy the Stock HEX file prior to installing a file of its own ie.. level 1/2/3 that way when you want to return it to stock the Edge puts that HEX file back into the ECU...now if you had plugged into the OBII port and had no power...I would tell you to check your fuse...but that does not sound like the case..sounds like the Edge see's something in the ECU other than the stock HEX file...good luck...PS the only way to find out whats in there is to have it re-flashed...

So I took the truck to the dealer, $94 later I still have the same problem. Edge fires up and I get a message saying it can't find the vehicles HEX file.

Dealer stated I had the latest and greatest update on the PCM already - allowed the system to update and now it appears I wasted 2 hours of my time and just through $94 out the window.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Bad programmer...call Edge ...they should offer to send you a new one and pay for the flash they told you to get... you sure you have the right model # Edge for your truck and motor ??

Haha, I agree on the refund for the flashing - my issue is that I bought this unit used off of amazon so I may be out of luck with Edge. Might have to return this one and pony up for a new model and then try it again.

Called Edge, they are going to send me a new unit to try to ensure that the issue is not with the unit. I did appreciate hearing that from them.

If I find out that the issue is with the new one then I will inquire about the money for flashing the pcm.

After all...they did tell you to get it re-flashed...if the new unit works I would ask...all they can say is NO!
