Default Edge Evolution/Cold Air Intake

Is it true that these two should not be used together? And if so why?

Some people think it causes a lean condition, but I have a hard time believing that and have yet to see hard facts and numbers to prove it. If you leave the battery unplugged like you supposed to when you install the new intake so it can relearn the new amount of air and use different fuel trims, you won't run lean. Then using the tuner in conjunction I have yet to be shown by anyone how the edge creates this supposed "lean" condition yet makes more HP. If you unplug the battery before installing the CAI and let it warm up and drive it like the manual says then we know it's not running lean with just the CAI. So if the edge is causing this "lean" condition we could only assume that the edge is running less fuel, which is obviously not true since it's making more power. Lean condition only happens if there is to much air or not enough fuel. If you install everything correctly, I don't see how people can come up with these conclusions.

On a second note though, I wouldn't waist the money on a CAI as the stock intake is Cold Air and most of the aftermarket CAI suck in engine cabin air anyways.

^ Very well put. And I heard that it was the 2004 and 2005's that had the "lean" issues. But like Bass said just follow the instructions

How do they know it's running lean? Check engine light? Even if it is running lean you can adjust the fuel with the evo to level it back out.... But a CAI doesn't make that big of a difference.... Most of the time to computer with self adjust to the extra air...

The only way to know for sure would be to use a wideband Air/Fuel sensor and gauge.
And this will only effect WOT situations, at part throttle the truck's computer is always going to be adjusting fuel trims to keep it at 14.7/1
