Default Ebay saved me a bunch of money

alright, my fusebox had blown out one day as i was driving, i hit a pot hole on the passenger side and heard it start popping. i took it to the dealership and they said that it was not covered and couldnt take care of it so it would be about $2000 out of my pocket to fix it. so i went on ebay and found one for 18 bucks with shipping and replaced it and now everything is back to normal. ebay is a life saver.

E-bay is the bomb. I always save around 30% or more for new items. Or around 80% or more for used. It is great.

yeah, it was great that i found it at the time i needed it. the total for the 2000 was for the fusebox, the fuses and relay and the labor, supposibly which is complete crap. it took me around 45 mins to replace it myself. now i get to start putting on the parts ive had in my garage that i had to put on hold because of my little problem.

My question is, what caused the entire fuse panel to blow fuses? This could happen again if you did not discover the root of the problem, and at an unoppertune time as well. Fuses "blow" because there was an overload of amperage on that circuit. The fact you had multiple fuses blow, and some how burn up a fuse panel tells me you had one heck of a battery surge into the fuse panel. Our Ford trucks have 3 fusible links under the hood, coming from the battery. One feeds the alternator, one feeds the starter, and the third feeds the fuse box. If there was a surge to the fuse panel, the fusible ling feeding it should have melted/opened. That's what fusible link wiring does.

I'm confused as to why a fuse panel would ever have to be replaced.
