Default E-Fans Y performance

I am looking at changing out the stock mechanical fan for a set of e-fans. i've seen alot of threads on here about how to instlal and everything but is the power gains worth the investment and does it increase fuel economy?
what would you go with for around 300.00?

I agree

As to any performance gains, I'd say no, you won't get any real seat of the pants performance. I'm in the process of finishing my install (albeit on a 4.2 V6), and plan to report (after about 2 to 3 months worth of driving) what gains if any I see in performance, MPG, and A/C cooling increase (at idle).

Be very careful in buying controllers. There are cheap ones, and some fans can draw up to 40 AMPs inital start up. Too low a guage wiring, poor crimps, and cheap controllers can cause electrical damage, or worse.

A single fan or two fans if you use the Mark VIII/Taurus fan(s)?

A single, Mark III DUAL SPEED is the favored, along with the Taurus. Both are larke enough to mount into the stock fan shroud.

If it were me, I'd buy used from the bone-yard. I posted in another thread awhile back that the electric motor is replaceable: made by Siemens and can be bought from your local auto parts store for under $90.00.

The Mark VIII fan is common; as the name implies, it was used on the Lincolns, so they are plentiful. There was a single speed and two speed; get the two speed. I've seen them on EBay as well.

In another post, I also included a link to a very clean install that was done by another poster; it had some great pics too.

Thumbs up

Bucko,
I have a 2005 SCrew Lariat 4X4 and am interested in converting to dual e-fans. I'm confident about installing the fans myself but as I read your post, you lost me when you stated...

[quote=Bucko;522257]A single, Mark III DUAL SPEED is the favored, along with the Taurus. Both are larke enough to mount into the stock fan shroud.[quote]

Is mounting these fans to the shroud the only way to do it? Why can't I mount them forward of the A/C condenser to push the air through to the radiator. Or, whay can't I mount it directly to the radiator support, up close to the radiator for maximum air flow?

Just curious, sir. I want to do this right and your expert opinions (as everyone else's here) are greatly appreciated.
