E Fan and pulley help
I am wanting to install troyer e fans and pulleys. I have heard that a lot of people have had trouble with the controllers going out on the e fan kit. I f any one has another kit or some custom engineered kit that works great please post pics and how you did it because I dont want to waste money on a kit that will break.
I installed Troyer e-fans and under-pulley about a month ago. The install was pretty simple if you have decent mechanical skills. Having said that, the instruction for the wiring could be better. My complaints are that there is no wiring schematic and the pictures are in black and white. When showing me a picture about colored wiring, black and white sucks. I would rather pay 10 bucks more to have a good colored instruction manual.
The fans seem like good rugged fans and install nicely. No complaints there. The temp probes that go into the radiator suck. You can upgrade them but that will cost you about $100. I also had an issue last week after driving for a little over an hour @ 75mph. When I turned my truck off the low side fan continued to run and wouldn't shut off. I pulled the fuse and took a nap. Stuck the fuse in, a few hours later, and the fan ran instantly with the truck cold as a rock. I tried it again the next morning and it was back to normal. Must be FM. I haven't had an issue since.
I called Troyer about the issue and was told to check all my wiring. Since I have done this around 10 times already, I am confident with how it's wired.
Time will tell if it's going to happen again.
I have no complaints with the under-pulley set up. Make sure you order the Gatorback belt.
If I could do it over I would go with the set-up Blown Ford is running. He used 2010 F150 fans and a Painless controller system.

I do like the look of factory, and the 2010 Motorcraft e fans will give that. Blown Ford did a write up on his install, link on saw's post. The pulleys, Troyer.
Troyer e fans are supposed to be good too.
The 4.6 needs every little bit of hp or torque it can get so slowly I am going with these 2 changes. Money plays a big factor. That and the wife's car is dying slowly. New Taurus on the horizon for her.
