I put the spectre by Steeda filter on mine. Really nice MPG gains and less expensive. They come pre oiled and I've had no issues. Was less than 20.00 from amazon. K&N is just the most popular, not the best IMO.

I think you'll be very pleased. Have checked the data stream countless times and no.lean or rich condition. Great filter and much more reasonable compared to the other brands!

On the dyno, yes. Good for 7-8 hp. Leave the stock filter in, better filtration efficiency than the K&N.

Have a k&n stock filter on stock intake. Read the post and decided to try a paper filter again. Got a wix at oreillys for $20 almost cried but decided to go through with it after reading all of the gum up the TB posts with oil coated air filters. Let's put it this way my wife said is there something wrong with the truck it takes forever to shift. Going with a cai. After 40,000 on stock and annoying whistle I'm moving up in the world. Did do the TB maf clean after reading an awesome post on here and well worth the $15 of cleaner and 30 minutes of time. I will say the TB was terribly gummy and the oil filter haters could be right. It was probably over a 1/16 in thick at 117,000 on 2005 5.4. It did fix my rough idle.
