Default Drained battery, now command start works, key doesnt

Hi everyone, new member, just bought a 2004 F150 Lariat a couple months ago, now I've encountered an odd issue, hopefully someone here can shed a little light on what's up.

So I was in a parking lot waiting for my girlfriend at the clinic, me and the kid were watching a DVD and all of a sudden everything dies, gauges were all twitching out for a few seconds and I could hear the disc trying to play, then dead, figured I just killed the battery watching the movie, no big deal, so I get a boost and go to start with the key, nothing, no clicking, no turning over of any kind, after checking all fuses related to the ignition system confusion set in, then my buddy decided to try the command start, sure enough it started right up and with the key in, I CAN drive the truck, but it will not start with the key, I can only start and drive with the command start, anyone have a clue what the F is going on?

Could be a faulty ignition lock cylinder from a heavy set of keys? Or maybe you bumped it in a damaging way? You could try jiggling the key in many different ways while trying to start.

I'm guessing the truck started fine with the remote, then the key was then inserted into the ignition and turned forward to drive?

And yes, the truck starts and runs completely fine and normal with the remote start, just use the remote, turn the key to the on position and I can drive it
