Door Chime Removal, HELP!!!
Okay, so I know there is numerous posts to this, but I tried to do the one where you remove the key from the column then tape the wire. I do not know how far to put whatever in the hole underneath the steering wheel, and what the actual way to do this whole process is. If anyone can help me with steps, and or pictures that would be amazing. Ford told me " this cannot be done" as I know it can, plus $100/hr for this is not worth it.
If anyone can help me that would be amazing, I have a 2004 f 150 fx4. Thank you!

Doing this is a bad idea if you don't have keyless entry.....I do so I did it to my truck.
Remove the Steering Wheel cover (one screw)(bottom side of column)
The bottom cover half is a real pain to get off/top half on my truck came out very easy.......you need the bottom half off to get to the wire.
On the left side of the column you will see a connector (it's for the ignition switch) remove the black/pink stripe wire from the connector, you can cut it but I just removed it from the plastic connector and folded out of the way just in case I ever wanted to put it back.
It took every bit of 15 mins. to do this.

Well you just answered a question I had after I disconnected the black/pink wire on mine..............my radio/CD player comes on when I open the door to my truck but not really the radio just the CD player starts looking for a CD to play but then stops after not finding one. My CD player hasn't worked for about 2 months before I disconnected the wire...........so all is good there!
Also I had to replace my battery after doing the wire trick, I didn't put 2 and 2 together, just thought the battery was worn out(3years old), I did have it tested before replacing it, but I guess the CD player running all the time would be enough to kill an old battery.
I reconnected the wire and the CD player still comes on without turning it on, is there a way to reset this system so the CD player doesn't come without wanting it on?

Thats a good question, wish I knew the answer,
so all in all you CAN disconnect the chime noise, but only by having your cd player always staying on? Or only when you open the door? My door latch was replaced and now it registers that its " ajar" even though it is closed, so thats why I am trying to remove the chime noise.

I can get ford wiring diagrams! I am a ford tech. Depending on the year a dealer may be able to go into the GEM module or SJB to remove this feature. I have done this on f-650's before
GEM= generic electronic module
SJB= smart junction box
