Hi,
I have a 2005 f150 and the doorajarlight started coming on while driving. .
Read most all the posts , I pulled the front door panels and shorted the switch wires, also checked the
wiring harnesses at the door jams where they bend back and forth. Light still on and wires look good.
Trying to find out if the back doors have doorajar switches in them and I did remove a broken dvd player
from the rear roof and maybe a wire tripped a fuse ?
a wiring diagram would be great and any tips
Previous post not sure if it made it out there , Update:
rear doors have no "door ajar switch" , also with key on and I open the drivers door the chimes come on .
when closed the dome light goes out after a few seconds. passenger door doesn't seem to sound
the chimes. also shorting the passenger door switch seems to have no effect on dash light.
What cab do you have? Super or Crew.
Do you have a scan tool with livedata capability or on demand module checks? I use the Ford scan tool to test the BCM and that will tell me which door the vehicle thinks is open.
crew cab , rear doors open backwards and there's no rear exterior handles.
I just have a generic scan tool. I think the Odometer will display open doors,
got it to disply info but not sure what the door stuff was.
Ok so you have a super crew cab(commonly called a access cab).
Do the interior lights(overhead lights) turn on when a front door is opened and then turn back off when both front doors are closed?
Does the cluster chime when a door is open and the key is in the ignition?
Do you have remote keyless entry(RKE), a key fob to unlock/lock the doors/panic button? Different wiring depending on if vehicle has RKE or not.
Hi,
Dome lights on at all times unless turned off with the dimmer switch.
I get the chimes with key in ign and driver door open but not passenger,
no Chime with driver door closed.
I have a remote that works with locking and unlocking
Ok here is the RKE wiring diagram and related connector views.
Ford does not say but based on the diagram but I am pretty sure the door ajar switch is electrical open when the door is closed and electrically closed when the door is open.
What I would do is with both doors panels removed I would disconnect the door ajar switches and using a ohm meter with one lead on the battery ground check resistance on pin 1 on both for C526 & C602. Both these wires should have very very low resistance to ground. you can then disconnect the BCM(BSM) C3008B and check resistance between the C3008B pin 4 to C528 pin 2 and C3008B pin 5 and C602 pin 2.
The BCM(BSM) is behind the left rear seat.
If all these wires test good then it would be worth it to get a subscription to a Ford OBD2 program so you can check the modules for internal faults.
Hi,
So problem solved.
Both Grounds were good and from terminals 4 and 5 on the BCM to the
door ajar switch wires tested good. I think what happened is I jumped the switches
thinking they were open and left the passenger jumper in place and it fell behind the door
and didn't noticce while testing. You were correct that the switch is open while the door is closed.
I checked from terminals 4 and 5 to ground this time with the latches closed . Drivers side good but the pasenger door
when open had a wacky non steady reading. I pulled the lock assy, pulled the door switch and
disected it . It was pack full of black crap and gunk. I cleaned it out and was going to see if I could
reuse it but the spring inside got so rusty it broke, I guess keeping it on .
So thanks a ton and I think after 175k miles its just fine the door switch broke. I did buy a drivers side
and will replace it when I have time
