I know mine works, used it last weekend. So most likely it's the bulb.

If the bulb is burnt out the CC should not work.

That is strange. Your call on fixing it or not. I personally have never had my 3rd brake light leak and Ive had it off twice now. I probably should have said that because now it will leak (fingers crossed)

Yea, I've had mine off and the seal was still intact.

It's not hard to RTV up a new seal, would just take time (6-8 hours) to make sure it formed properly.

Go behind the truck and have someone hit the brake or put something on the brake pedal. Truck doesn't have to even have the key in it. See if it comes on.

Im not doubting all I need is a bulb, but just seems odd that it would be wired in a way that if a bulb goes out, the CC doesn't work...seems weird to me. Funny thing is, today, I can safely say that 30-40% of 11th gens I saw on the way home did NOT have a working light...I guess it's common, at least around here.
