Default Do you think this would work?

I've got a friend that has offered to sell me six goodyear wrangler tires for 50 bucks, which is way too good of a deal to pass up considering they are around 300 bucks a tire. All the tires have 75% of the tread left, he just cant use them on his truck (he changed rim sizes).

So my question is this: Do you think that the 305/70/r17 would fit on my 04 2wd without a leveling kit? It looks like they would, but I want to make sure before I buy them and have them put on only to find out they wont work.

And also, if I do need a leveling kit to clear the tires, how hard is one to put on? I know that it would take a couple hours, but do I need any special tools like a coil spring compressor?

**I would be putting them on my stock 17" rims

you would more than likely need a leveling kit and it would depend on what kind of leveling kit you are wanting to install you can get one with a polyurathane boot in that case you will need a spring compreser but they also make a bolt on kit that replaces the entire spring and shock assembly and one that just mount on the top of you strut

Yeah you're going to need a leveling kit on there. Look for the Autospring kit, it sits on top of the strut. You can do it yourself in a couple hours in your driveway or take it to a shop and have them do it. Should run you about $150-$200 installed with alignment.

I'd definitely go with the autospring kit, actually, I did!!! And you will need it with 305's. My 285's fit without the kit, but it looks better with it.

One thing to check.... ... The Factory rims may not be wide enough for a 305. It may suck the sidewalls in too much. Maybe not, but just make sure. I think a 305 calls for a 8" minimum width rim. A 1/2 inch or so either way shouldn't matter.
