Default Do I need a tune to run E85

My 06 is a flex fuel engine, I do have a SCT 4 tuner and have it set on the tow mode. Should I change the fuel settings to 93 octane instead of 87 since I now run E85 most all the time and should I get with a tuner to set me up with an E85 tune? I am on my 4th tank of E85 and really like it so far.

If you wanted to heat the tune up just a little to take advantage of the e85's octane, you could sure ask your tuner to do that. Need? No. Could squeeze a bit more out? Probably.

Your trucks pcm will handle the E85 all on it's own. I had the same question as I also have custom tunes from both 5* and MPT and they both told me for best performance just use the 93 tunes no special (E) tune required.

Been running an MPT 93 race tune for a few years now and the combination of that and E85, puts a smile on my face everytime I mash the skinny pedal.

Yeah, but your fuel mileage will be horrible.

Because your mileage will drop 15-20% when using E85 over normal gas.

Not an issue when E85 is 35% cheaper (at least by me).

There may be other long-term detriments to using E85, I have no idea.
