Default disassemble armrest

How hard is it to disassemble the door panel to get to the power window and locks buttons.....mine makes a creaking noise when my leg barely touches it and my power lock button doesn't light up. Does anyone have pics or instructions?

your best bet would be to go to your local auto parts shop and buy a chiltons or haynes book for you truck. they are very detailed books and tell you how to do anything. and for around $20, you cant beat it.

I know that removal of a door panel is cake. All you really have to do is look around for small covers hiding screws. There is probably one behind the door handle and some along the outside edge of the door panel near the latch. After you remove the screws you can locate, just start prying at the bottom of the door panel and the clips will come off. Do not pull too hard just because you might have not found all screws.

I will post pics when I get home (roughly 8:30am-9am) and post them here. The switch panel should just unscrew from the bottom of the panel.

Just replaced my 2006 switchs on driver side armrest last week. Swith was aprox. 65.00 at dealer. Put screwdriver in slot between armrest and base (about an inch from top of armrest) tilt handle of screwdriver down toward floor and strike with your palm (pretty hard). Top of armrest will pop off. Switch has 2 wire harnesses on back. disconnect and replace switch and reassemble. This took me 5 minutes and I saved $ 150.00.

Had my door panel off a while back, and I used to do it a lot when I worked at Ford at the R and E center. You do take the cover off behind the inside door handle then remove the screws, and also the lower screws on the bottom of the door panel, but DO NOT pry on the panel, it lifts off. But, order to do this you have to remove the speaker grille, which comes off pretty easy carefully prying along the edges. You'll have to remove the speaker....theeen you have to take the lower speaker spacers off, otherwise you will not be able to lift the door panel off. They are a little tricky to remove. I used needle nose pliers to pinch the spacers from the inside of the door panel through the speaker hole. there is also screws below the window/lock switch panel which just prys off like Manhands described. At this point the door panel will lift off for servicing. Of course since I had the door panel off . Out went the stock speakers, in went the Kenwoods. So much for a Quick Reply
