Default Differential Code

I'm having trouble finding a thread with what differentials codes are which gears. I have a 2004 Lariat 4X4 4dr, the code on the differential is V 953 F and under that there's another that's L739754C25. Anyone know? Or have a link to a thread? Thanks

Default Differential codes

Unless you think the axle has been changed, you need to look at the door sticker. It should list an axle code. Mine is B6 which means 3.73 limited slip. If you google ford f150 axle codes, you'll find plenty of info. I would have posted the link, but I am using my wife's I-pad and I can't figure out how to copy it. If you think it has been changed, then the codes wont do you you any good anyway. Jack up one rear with the trany in neutral and the e-brake off(block the front wheels). If the wheel turns easily, no limited slip. Just count how many times the driveshaft turns with one wheel rotation and divide by 2. If you do have a LS then lift both rear tires and count the drive shaft rotations, don't divide by two if both wheels are turning together. Hope this helps.

Yes i would look on the door sticker and see what the code for the axle is... And then you can use this chart
