I just took out the coupler where the PVC pipe goes, and nothing to noticable but I only went like 2 miles home and not fast cuz of construction.

i did this mod on my 4.6 and my 5.4----- used a 3" pvc pipe- sanded it down to fit into the fender opening. woke those babies right up. Best $10.00 i ever spent

my pvc is about 4 inches long maybe 3.5 you cant see it because of the coupler and it bein in the fender, but ive got the 4.6, it has a different intake then the 04-08 5.4 has

ok, the article said I needed a 4-5in pipe and not sure how long yall make it. ill take my tape measure and space it out.

did the gotts mod on 05 4.6 xlt idles more quitely but can feel a lil difference when trying to pass on highway lil more kick u know thinking bout removing silencer and also installing k&n filter just regular paper one right now

Anybody else done this on the 281 (4.6L)? Mine keeps tripping a sensor... CEL keeps coming on... I guess it's the MAF sensor. Put the stock tube back in and the CEL went off. Didn't have a way to get my codes read at the time, going to redo it today and see if it trips it again... anybody else had this problem?

I believe it depends a little bit on which engine you have... but here is a link to a how-to article on removing the silencer... looks like they're doing it on a 4.2 or 4.6, didn't blow the pictures up to check... but I think that's what it is.
