I want to do the mod but I'm nervous after watching a you tube video of guy pulling what looks like a bird nest out of his intake. If I can gain a 2-3 MPG increase without messing anything up I will do it.

 

A piece of screen over the end of the intake will stop the larger junk from being sucked in - the air filter will catch the fine stuff.

 

Yea I was thinking about a screen or some mesh on the end to help prevent that. Thanks

I just did this mod today, I did notice slight throttle response. I have bad cam phasers so how much on a perfect engine? idk.. if I see a fuel increase ill post but im not thinking I will. next ill do the phasers! that will probly help my mpg out some! easy mod and gives you somethings to tinker with!

Not sure how. Your MAF and O2s are going to give the pcm any information of any changes in air flow and it will correct to stoich (14.7) and all will remain as before.
I felt no change (and didn't expect to) at lower rpms and didn't try it at WOT (where it may make a slight difference) It's a free mod, so it's worth doing, but you wont see much gain.

 

Maybe slightly better throttle response but I didn't see any mpg increase......sounds cool though!
